Death toll rises to 31 in India's attack on Pakistan

The death toll has risen in the attacks launched yesterday by India against Pakistan, which it holds responsible for the terrorist attack on April 22 in the tourist region of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir that left 26 people dead. The Pakistani military announced that the number of people who lost their lives in the attacks has risen to 31 and the number of injured to 57, promising further retaliation for the attacks.

"THIS RESPONSE TOOK THE ENEMY BY SURPRISE"

In a statement, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that India attempted to infiltrate Pakistan under the cover of darkness as it has in the past, but that the armed forces gave them the necessary response. Stating that the Pakistan Air Force intercepted Indian fighter jets, Sharif said, "This response took the enemy by surprise and made them realize the power, skill, and strength of Pakistan as a nuclear state, and it has kept them awake at night."

Expressing that Pakistani fighter jets were fully prepared and had jammed the communication systems of the Indian fighter jets, Sharif indicated that more than 5 Indian fighter jets may have been shot down.

"WE ARE READY FOR FULL-SCALE WAR"

Pakistan's Minister of Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the missile attacks carried out by India yesterday were a 'clear violation' and an 'invitation to escalate' the tension between the two countries. Emphasizing that the Pakistani military is prepared for 'full-scale war' but that they are trying to avoid such a conflict, Asif stated, "We are ready for total war. There is no doubt about this. India is increasing the intensity and risks of this conflict; we cannot be caught unprepared for this."
