Decision on PKK from the Embassy of Japan

The Embassy of Japan in Turkey announced that the PKK has not been removed from the "list of banned organizations," stating, "There is no change in this policy of the government."

IT HAD BEEN REMOVED FROM THE LIST

The Public Security and Intelligence Agency (PSIA) of Japan had removed the PKK from the list of banned organizations on its official website. The Embassy of Japan in Turkey issued a statement regarding the matter.

"THERE IS NO CHANGE IN OUR POLICY"

In the official statement made via the Embassy's website, the following expressions were included:

"The website of the Public Security and Intelligence Agency of Japan was updated recently, and the page in question has now been deleted. The government of Japan included the PKK among the organizations whose assets should be frozen as of 2002, such as terrorists, etc., and condemns the terrorist acts carried out by the PKK. There is no change in this policy of the government of Japan."

The PKK had not been included in the "Major International Terrorist Organizations" list and the "General Trends" chart previously updated by the PSIA, which is affiliated with the Japanese Ministry of Justice.

The list included both local and international organizations such as Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, Al-Shabaab, ISIS, the Japanese Red Army, and Aum Shinrikyo.
