Decree signed: Date set for early presidential election in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree for the early presidential election to be held on February 7, 2024. The previous election was held on April 11, 2018.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree for the early presidential election to be held on February 7, 2024.
The decree states that the decision was made based on Part 1 of Article 101 of the Constitution and in accordance with Article 179 of the Election Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In the decree, which announces the early election, Aliyev instructed the Central Election Commission to hold the early presidential election on February 7, 2024, in accordance with the procedures established by the Election Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In Azerbaijan, where presidential elections are held every 7 years, the last election took place on April 11, 2018. With today's decree, President Aliyev has ordered the elections to be moved forward by approximately one year.
