Diplomatic crisis between France and Israel

Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz has reacted to France's decision to ban Israeli firms from participating in the EURONAVAL international naval defense exhibition, which is set to be held in Paris this November. 

Katz announced that they are preparing legal and diplomatic initiatives against French President Emmanuel Macron.

In a statement on the social media platform X, Katz said, "I have instructed the Israeli Foreign Ministry to take legal and diplomatic action against the decision of French President Emmanuel Macron to prevent Israeli companies from showcasing their products at the EURONAVAL exhibition in Paris next month."

CALL TO REVERSE THE DECISION

Furthermore, Katz called on French President Macron to "completely reverse" these decisions, describing the ban on Israeli firms from the exhibition as "unacceptable." Katz stated, "The second boycott of Israeli companies and the imposition of unacceptable conditions are, in our view, undemocratic measures that are unacceptable, especially between friendly nations."

7 ISRAELI COMPANIES TO BE AFFECTED

In a statement released by EURONAVAL on October 15, it was announced that the Paris administration had approved the participation of Israeli delegations in EURONAVAL 2024, scheduled for November 4-7, provided they do not open stands or exhibit equipment. It was reported that 7 Israeli companies would be affected by the ban.

Tensions had previously arisen between French President Macron and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the implementation of an arms embargo on Israel. 

While Macron called for a halt to the shipment of weapons that Israel would use in its attacks on Gaza, Netanyahu reacted to these statements and described calls from Western leaders for an arms embargo on Israel as "shameful."

On October 15, Macron reminded Netanyahu that "his country was established by a UN resolution" and called on the Israeli government to comply with international resolutions regarding its attacks on Gaza and Lebanon.
