Dismissal of Defense Minister Gallant is 'a matter of time,' according to Israeli media

Israel's official broadcaster KAN reported, citing reliable sources, that Netanyahu is expected to announce his decision to expand the government and dismiss Gallant within a few hours.

The report stated that "intense negotiations" are ongoing between Netanyahu's office, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, and New Hope Party leader Gideon Saar.

It was noted that both sides are busy with the "final touches" before announcing the agreement reached.

Furthermore, information provided by unnamed sources indicated that Saar is expected to be appointed to the Defense Ministry seat to replace the outgoing Gallant.

On the other hand, the Yediot Ahronot newspaper wrote that hundreds of protesters, including families of Israelis held in the Gaza Strip, held a demonstration in front of Saar's home in Tel Aviv to oppose his joining the government.

The Haaretz newspaper also reported that Netanyahu's office has been circulating messages in recent days claiming that the Prime Minister has been calling for the Israeli army to launch a large-scale attack on Lebanon, but that Defense Minister Gallant has been opposing it.

The report alleged that Netanyahu is laying the groundwork to dismiss Gallant regardless of whether an attack on Lebanon takes place or not.

Israel's far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also stated in a post on his X social media account that he has been calling on Netanyahu to dismiss Gallant for months and that it is time to do so immediately, adding, "A decision needs to be made in the north, and Gallant is not the right man to lead it."
