Elon Musk shifts gears, supports 'Trump should be impeached' post: Tax debate turns into crisis

The debate between US President Donald Trump and US businessman Elon Musk, which began over a tax cut bill, continues with mutual barbs on social media.

In a statement on his social media account, Trump said, "The easiest way to save billions of dollars in our budget is to terminate Elon's government subsidies and contracts. I have always been surprised that Biden didn't do this."

Defending the tax cut bill, Trump said, "I don't care that Elon turned against me, but he should have done this months ago. This is one of the biggest bills ever presented to Congress. It is a record $1.6 trillion in spending cuts and the largest tax cut ever given. If this bill is not passed, there will be a 68 percent tax increase and things much worse than that. I didn't create this mess. I'm just here to fix it," he said.

MUSK'S RESPONSE TO TRUMP WAS NOT DELAYED

Responding to Trump's threat to terminate government subsidies and contracts, Musk said, "In light of the President's statement regarding the cancellation of my government contracts, the decommissioning of the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft will begin immediately."

If Musk's statement is carried out, it would cause uncertainty for the future of some missions SpaceX conducts with NASA.

Musk also replied "Yes" to a social media user's post stating, "Trump should be impeached and replaced by JD Vance."

MUSK'S JEFFREY EPSTEIN CLAIM

During his argument with Trump, Musk had previously claimed in a post that the reason the files related to the case of US billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of establishing a child sex trafficking ring, were not made public was because Trump's name appeared in the case. Musk had stated, "Time to drop the real bombshell. Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they haven't been released to the public," adding, "Save this post for the future. The truth will come out."

TRUMP-MUSK DEBATE

The debate in question began yesterday with Musk's post regarding the tax cut bill Trump is trying to pass, where he stated, "Sorry, but I can't take it anymore. This massive, exorbitant Congressional spending bill is a disgusting disgrace. Shame on those who voted for it. You know you did wrong." Musk had said, "It will increase the already massive budget deficit by $2.5 trillion and place an overwhelmingly unsustainable debt burden on American citizens. Congress is bankrupting America."

Criticizing some articles in the tax cut bill harshly, Musk said, "Anyway. Even though no oil and gas subsidies were touched, which is very unfair. Keep the electric vehicle and solar energy incentive cuts in the bill. In the entire history of civilization, there has never been a bill both this big and this beautiful. Everyone knows this."

On the other hand, until last week, Musk had served as a special government employee in the Trump administration, leading the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Musk had been tasked with identifying and eliminating "waste" in the federal bureaucracy in his advisory role to Trump.
