Erdoğan, who once said 'I will never agree to meet with Mitsotakis,' is heading to Greece
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will travel to Greece today for the Fifth Meeting of the Turkey-Greece High-Level Cooperation Council.
President Erdoğan will pay a visit to Greece for the Fifth Meeting of the Turkey-Greece High-Level Cooperation Council at the invitation of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
COOPERATION TALKS TO BE ADDRESSED
Turkey-Greece relations will be reviewed in all their dimensions at the Council Meeting to be held in Athens, chaired by Erdoğan and the Greek Prime Minister, with the participation of relevant ministers. Opportunities for developing cooperation between the two countries will be discussed. In addition to bilateral relations, an exchange of views on current regional and global developments is expected during the meetings.
Within the framework of the visit, the signing of various agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at strengthening the legal infrastructure of bilateral relations is also on the agenda.
WHAT HAD HE SAID?
In May 2022, Erdoğan had said, "We were going to hold a strategic council meeting this year, but for me, there is no one named Mitsotakis anymore. I will never agree to have a meeting with him. We will continue our path with politicians who keep their word, who have character and honor. From now on, let Mitsotakis think about what happens next. We are enough for ourselves."
