European stock markets close higher, excluding the UK
European stock markets finished the day with gains, excluding the UK, under the influence of the Fed minutes.
The minutes from the US Federal Reserve's (Fed) meeting held on October 31-November 1 revealed that bank officials agreed on adopting a cautious approach to the course of monetary policy, and that monetary policy could be tightened further if incoming data shows that progress in reducing inflation is insufficient.
At the close, the benchmark index Stoxx Europe 600 rose by 0.30 percent to 457.24 points.
In France, the CAC 40 index gained 0.43 percent to reach 7,260.73 points. In Germany, the DAX index closed at 16,957.82 points with a 0.36 percent increase.
In Italy, the FTSE MIB 30 index closed at 29,154.91 points with a 0.01 percent increase.
In the UK, the FTSE 100 index fell by 0.17 percent to 7,469.51 points. The euro/dollar parity is trading at the 1.088 level, down 0.303 percent as of 20:26 TSI.
