Exit polls in South Korea: Opposition set to win landslide majority

South Korea's parliamentary election exit polls indicate that opposition parties are set to secure a landslide majority in the 300-seat National Assembly.

According to Yonhap, voting for the parliamentary elections in South Korea has concluded.

According to exit polls, the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) and the Democratic United Party are projected to win between 168 and 197 of the 300 seats in parliament combined.

If they secure a landslide majority in the assembly, the opposition is expected to have the authority to override vetoes by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.

Yoon's party, the People Power Party (PPP), and the Future Korea Party are projected to win a total of 85 to 111 seats in parliament.

The polls also show that the DP is likely to win by narrow margins in many districts in Seoul, the country's most politically significant area.

PPP interim leader Han Dong-hoon described the exit poll results as "disappointing."

DP leader Lee Jae-myung stated, "We will watch the people's choices with a humble heart."

The official results of the election are expected to be announced tomorrow.
