Explosion in the Strait of Hormuz
According to a statement by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), an explosion occurred in the Strait of Hormuz, 36 nautical miles north of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Iran is targeting all ships linked to the US and Israel in the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for attacks launched on its territory on February 28 in a US-Israeli collaboration.
According to a statement by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), an explosion occurred in the Strait of Hormuz, 36 nautical miles north of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The statement said, "A ship's captain reported seeing a splash near the bulk carrier and hearing a loud explosion.
Authorities are investigating the incident. Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO," it said.
In a separate statement, UKMTO said, "13 incident reports have been received affecting vessels operating in the vicinity of the Arabian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman between February 28 and March 9." The statement noted that the total number of reported attacks was 10, and the total number of suspicious activities was 3.
