According to reports in the Mexican press, an explosion occurred at a steel factory in the town of San Cosme Xaloztoc in the state.
12 people lost their lives in the explosion, and many others were injured, some critically. The injured were taken to the hospital.
Tlaxcala State Governor Lorena Cuellar stated in a press release that an explosion occurred in a boiler at the steel factory and that the incident is being thoroughly investigated by the prosecutor's office.
Expressing her deep sorrow over the incident, Cuellar said, "I stand in solidarity with the families of the deceased; we will not leave them alone during this difficult time."
