Family of Nargeolet, who died in submarine disaster, seeks $50 million in damages
The family of Paul-Henri Nargeolet, who lost his life in 2023 aboard a submarine owned by the American company OceanGate, has filed a $50 million lawsuit against the firm.
The family of Frenchman Paul-Henri Nargeolet, one of the 5 people who lost their lives in the submarine belonging to the American company OceanGate that imploded during an expedition to the wreck of the Titanic, has filed a $50 million lawsuit against the company.
According to reports in local media, Nargeolet's family accused OceanGate of "negligence" regarding the deaths of the 5 people on board during the tourist expedition to the Titanic wreck in the Atlantic Ocean in June 2023.
Matt Shaffer, one of the lawyers for the French Nargeolet family, argued that Stockton Rush, a co-founder of OceanGate who organized the trip, was not "forthright with the crew and passengers about the dangers that he and many others were aware of."
The family of Nargeolet, who died in the OceanGate submarine, has filed a $50 million lawsuit against the company.
DIVED INTO THE OCEAN TO OBSERVE THE TITANIC WRECK
The Titan submarine, which was approximately 6.5 meters long and owned by the company called OceanGate, dived into the Atlantic Ocean on June 18, 2023, to observe the wreck of the Titanic.
The Titan submarine imploded and sank, and 5 people lost their lives.
The accident claimed the lives of British billionaire Hamish Harding, owner of the aviation services company Action Aviation; Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood; Stockton Rush, the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the submarine's owner, OceanGate; and French submarine pilot Paul-Henri Nargeolet.
