'Famine' warning issued for Gaza

A statement from the Media Office of the government in Gaza reported that the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is deepening due to the Israeli army "continuing to occupy the Rafah Border Crossing, keeping it closed to the entry of aid trucks, and continuing to block the entry of aid trucks through the Kerem Shalom Border Crossing."

The statement, which noted that Israel is imposing a blockade on the entire Gaza Strip, said, "Famine threatens Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip, and the food security crisis is worsening in the central and southern parts of Gaza following the displacement of tens of thousands of Palestinians from Rafah due to the Israeli army's ground attacks."

ONLY 100 TRUCKS OF AID REACHED

On the other hand, the statement emphasized that the aid reaching the people of the Gaza Strip, who are experiencing a humanitarian catastrophe, is below the necessary minimum, and recalled that only about 100 trucks of aid have arrived via the temporary pier established by the US.

It was stated that 214 aid trucks entered Gaza City and northern Gaza last week through a point established by the Israeli army in the town of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, with 109 of these trucks loaded with flour and 6 with medicine.

The statement, which called on the Israeli army to withdraw from the Rafah Border Crossing, emphasized that border crossings are the most appropriate and effective method for delivering aid to the Gaza Strip, preventing the food security crisis, and averting the famine that threatens all regions of Gaza.

The international community was called upon to "pressure Israel to allow humanitarian aid to be brought in through the Rafah and Kerem Shalom border crossings and to reopen the Erez, Shuja'iyya, and Karni border crossings."

700 THOUSAND PALESTINIANS LACK FOOD

Approximately 700 thousand Palestinians living in Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip are suffering from a shortage of food supplies and vegetables because Israel continues to keep border crossings closed and does not allow aid trucks to enter the northern regions. Local officials and international organizations state that this situation has brought the "threat of famine" back to the surface.

There has been a serious decline in the entry of humanitarian aid sent to the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli army's recent occupation of the Rafah Border Crossing and the restrictions it has imposed.
