Famous courier company announces bankruptcy

Foodora, which has been providing services in the food and retail delivery market in Finland for over a decade, has officially announced that all its branches and service points in the country will be closed. According to the information provided by the company, the operations of the Foodora application in Finland will be completely halted as of February 27.

This decision, taken after negotiations regarding mass layoffs and company restructuring that began with employee representatives on January 12, will lead to thousands of people working both in offices and in the field losing their jobs. It was reported that the company has around 80 direct office employees within the scope of its operations in Finland, and that approximately 2,800 independent couriers and numerous restaurant and retail partners will also be affected by the process. Foodora management stated that they have provided the necessary notifications to both employees and business partners in the sector following the decision.

Foodora had been providing its services in Finland since 2015 and was active in over 100 regions across the country. The company justified this strategic decision with the goals of "focusing on regions that offer clear market leadership opportunities" and "building a strong, long-lasting brand in Europe."

Berlin-based Foodora continues to operate under the Delivery Hero umbrella. The company's operations in other European countries such as Sweden, Norway, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Hungary will continue as they are.
