U.S. President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have spoken for the first time in 27 days.

It was reported that the situation in the Gaza Strip was discussed during the phone call between the two leaders. In a statement made by U.S. National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby, he said that efforts to secure the release of all hostages held in Gaza were also addressed during the conversation.

Stating that Biden emphasized to Netanyahu the responsibility to protect innocent civilians in the region, Kirby noted that the U.S. President welcomed the Israeli government's decision to allow the shipment of large quantities of flour into Gaza.
