First call between Trump and Zelenskyy takes place: Is the war in Ukraine ending?

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with US President Donald Trump over the phone. It was stated that the two leaders discussed 'possibilities for achieving peace' in the Russia-Ukraine War. In recent days, Russia claimed that Putin and Trump had also spoken by phone. In a statement from the Kremlin, it was alleged that the US President reached a consensus with Putin on ending the war in Ukraine.

Zelenskiy stated in a post on his Telegram account that he held a phone call with Trump. Zelenskyy noted that they discussed possibilities for achieving peace in the Russia-Ukraine War during the conversation.

Claims that Putin and Trump spoke were first brought to the agenda by the US press. The Kremlin initially did not comment on the allegations. The White House did not deny the reports. In a statement made by Russia on February 12, it was officially confirmed that the two leaders had spoken.

Emphasizing that they addressed working-level issues between the US and Ukrainian governments, Zelenskyy provided information that they discussed Ukraine's unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other modern production capabilities.

Stating that Trump shared information with him regarding his phone call with Putin, Zelenskyy expressed the following:

''Ukraine wants peace more than anyone. We are determining our joint steps with the US to stop Russia's attacks and guarantee a reliable and lasting peace. As President Trump said, let's do this.''

Zelenskyy stated that they also agreed on future meetings with Trump, adding that during the phone call, they also discussed the preparation process for a partnership document in the fields of security, economy, and underground resources.
