First comment on Israel's withdrawal from southern Gaza comes from the US
In a statement made today by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), it was stated that "the 98th Commando Division completed its mission and withdrew from Khan Yunis, where it had been operating for 4 months, during the night hours yesterday," and that only one brigade continues its mission in the region.
Following Israel's withdrawal of all its ground forces from the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip early today, US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby stated that the withdrawal was not in line with a new operational plan, but rather for the soldiers to "rest and refit."
Six months have passed in Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip. Continuing its bombardment across the region and killing thousands of civilians, Israeli forces withdrew from the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip today. US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby spoke about the partial withdrawal announced today.
Stating that the withdrawal did not take place in line with a new operational plan, Kirby said, "They have been on the ground for four months. According to the reports we have received, they are tired and need to refit themselves."
