First statement from the US on the cartel operation in Mexico where El Mencho was killed!

Support has come from the US regarding the death of Nemesio Oseguera, nicknamed "El Mencho," the leader of one of Mexico's largest criminal organizations, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), during a military operation carried out by Mexican security forces.

US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau described El Mencho as "one of the bloodiest and most ruthless drug lords" in a post on social media. Stating that he had been informed about the operation, Landau said, "This is a wonderful development for Mexico, the US, Latin America, and the world. The good guys are stronger than the bad guys."

At the end of his statement, Landau shared a message in Spanish: "The number of good people is greater than the bad. I congratulate the law enforcement of the great Mexican nation."

DETAILS OF THE MILITARY OPERATION IN TAPALPA

Mexican security forces had conducted a military operation in the city of Tapalpa, in the state of Jalisco, with the aim of capturing Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) leader El Mencho.

In a statement made by the Mexican Ministry of Defense, it was reported that 4 cartel members died at the scene during the clash, and 3 cartel members, including El Mencho, lost their lives while being transported by air to Mexico City. It was noted that 2 cartel members were captured alive during the operation, and 3 security personnel were injured.

CARTEL VIOLENCE AND AIRPORT ATTACK

Following El Mencho's death, it was reported that members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel set vehicles on fire in many cities and also carried out an attack on Guadalajara International Airport. It was reported that clashes occurred between cartel members and security forces.

SHEINBAUM: "ACTIVITIES ARE PROCEEDING NORMALLY"

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized in her statement after the operation that they were acting in full coordination with all state administrations. Stating that up-to-date information regarding the security situation is being shared regularly, Sheinbaum said, "Activities are continuing normally in most of the country."
