Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in a joint press conference held with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, made statements regarding the negotiations in Ukraine. Emphasizing that Turkey is a strong and important country in the region, Fidan stated that they would take on active roles in ensuring peace and maintaining a ceasefire.

Criticizing Israel's policies toward Syria, Fidan underscored that the rhetoric of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Syria is not pro-peace. Evaluating current developments regarding the negotiations in Ukraine, Fidan said there is intense diplomatic traffic between the parties.

Emphasizing Turkey's effective role in the region, Fidan used the following expressions:

'As Turkey, we have supported initiatives where both sides are present. I reiterate that we are ready to provide all kinds of support, including hosting peace talks. We will certainly play important roles in the realization of peace, its continuity, and the preservation of a ceasefire.

What will be the conditions of a potential ceasefire agreement, will this ceasefire agreement turn into a peace agreement, what will the security guarantees be? There are intense contacts on this matter. The good thing is that everyone now agrees on a ceasefire. We are continuing our work on what Turkey's contributions might be.'

It was alleged that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would go to the US on Friday and agree to begin peace negotiations with Russia. Zelenskyy will also respond positively to Trump's demands regarding mineral resources in Ukraine Financial Times

WARNING TO ISRAEL ON SYRIA

Touching upon the political transition process in Syria, Fidan reacted to Israel's plan to occupy the south of the country. Fidan stated that separatist actions should not be permitted in Syria.

Claiming that Israel is endangering peace in the region, Fidan added the following to his words:

''We have advocated that the future of Syria should be determined by the Syrian people. We expect the subsequent steps of the political transition process to be inclusive and implemented in a way that does not allow for separatist movements. Israel must end the regional expansionism it pursues under the guise of establishing security. A clear stance must be taken against Israel's actions.''

During the meeting, Fidan also touched upon the process of the return of Ahıska Turks to their homeland, emphasizing that they are ''ready to provide all necessary support for the return of Ahıska Turks to Georgia.'' Fidan stated that steps are being taken to strengthen relations between the two countries and increase regional cooperation.

Israel carried out airstrikes in Syria on February 25 and 26. The attacks came after Netanyahu announced that they would permanently occupy Syria
