Former intelligence officer gives a date: The US could intervene in Iran this week

While tensions between the US and Iran in the Middle East have not subsided in recent weeks, international assessments regarding whether a potential conflict could be avoided have continued. However, the claim put forward by former CIA agent John Kiriakou suggests that the expected process will move much faster.

In his statement, Kiriakou suggested that the 10-day period set by former US President Donald Trump for the demand to end Iran's ballistic missile and uranium enrichment programs would not be waited out. Stating, "The operation could take place on Monday or Tuesday at the latest," Kiriakou emphasized the information he obtained from White House sources.

In contrast to international expectations that negotiations between the American administration and Tehran might be suspended, the possibility that events could rapidly escalate to a military point is being highlighted.

On the other hand, according to a report by one of the leading American media outlets, Axios, citing a high-level American official, Washington is prepared to restart negotiations if Iran presents a detailed proposal regarding the nuclear deal within 48 hours. The talks are expected to resume in Geneva, Switzerland.
