French opposition calls on Macron regarding Israel

Mathilde Panot, head of the opposition La France Insoumise (LFI) parliamentary group in France, has called on President Emmanuel Macron to expel Israel's Ambassador to Paris, Joshua Zarka, following Israel's attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla.

"IT IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A REPRESENTATIVE OF A STATE COMMITTING GENOCIDE TO REMAIN"

Speaking on the French radio station RTL, Panot harshly criticized Israel's attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla, stating, "This morning, I am officially requesting that the President (Macron) expel the Israeli ambassador to France. It is unacceptable to allow a representative of a state that has illegally intercepted a legitimate mission three times to remain on our soil any longer."

DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS MUST BE SEVERED

While expressing that diplomatic relations with Israel should be severed, Panot also stated her support for Colombian President Gustavo Petro's decision to expel Israeli diplomats from Colombia. Reiterating her firm stance against Israel's actions, Panot said, "It is unacceptable to allow a representative of a state committing genocide to remain on our soil any longer."

Panot also addressed the threatening remarks previously made by Israeli Ambassador Joshua Zarka toward the passengers of the Global Sumud Flotilla, in which he wished them "good luck surviving." Condemning this statement by Zarka, Panot emphasized that such attitudes should no longer be tolerated on French soil.

ATTACK ON THE GLOBAL SUMUD FLOTILLA

The Global Sumud Flotilla, which set sail to break Israel's blockade and deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, was attacked by the Israeli military on the evening of October 1 as it approached Gazan waters. The Israeli military illegally seized dozens of boats and ships in the flotilla and detained hundreds of passengers.
