Frightening threat from North Korea: 'They will pay a heavy price!'
The North Korean administration has condemned the joint military exercise between the US and South Korea with harsh words.
The North Korean administration has condemned the joint Freedom Shield Exercise, which the US and South Korea launched yesterday, warning that the two countries will "pay a heavy price."
North Korea has reacted sharply to the joint Freedom Shield Exercise that the US and South Korea began yesterday. In a statement issued by the North Korean Ministry of Defense, it was stated that Washington and Seoul have resumed "large-scale provocative joint military exercises" and that military personnel from 11 countries under the United Nations Command have been mobilized for the drills. The statement argued that the "reckless" war exercises by the US and South Korea more clearly demonstrate who the primary culprit is that threatens humanity with nuclear weapons, adding, "The large-scale war exercises conducted by the world's largest nuclear power and more than 10 satellite states on the Korean Peninsula, where a nuclear war could be ignited by even a single spark, can never be called 'defensive'."
''THEY WILL PAY A HEAVY PRICE''
The statement, which noted that the North Korean Ministry of Defense "strongly condemns" the reckless military exercises of the US and South Korea, called on Washington and Seoul to stop these actions that cause provocation and instability. While it was stated that Pyongyang will continue to carry out responsible military activities to ensure its security, it was emphasized that the US and South Korea will "pay a heavy price" for their wrong choices.
MILITARY PERSONNEL FROM MANY COUNTRIES PARTICIPATED IN THE EXERCISE
The US and South Korea began the 11-day joint Freedom Shield Exercise yesterday, which aims to strengthen their combined defense capabilities. In a statement made by the US and South Korean Forces, it was stated that 48 field training exercises, as well as bombing and missile defense drills, would be conducted within the scope of the exercise, which will last until March 14. It was noted that the focus during the exercise would be on anti-nuclear attack operations, and that the US and South Korean armies would stage multi-dimensional military operations by utilizing land, sea, air, and space assets. It was reported that military personnel from United Nations Command (UNC) member states Australia, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, France, the UK, Greece, Italy, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Thailand also participated in the exercise.
