Military in Japan battles flood disaster: Deaths and injuries reported

The death toll from the heavy rainfall that has affected Japan's Ishikawa Prefecture has risen.

According to information obtained from local authorities, the number of people who lost their lives in floods and landslides caused by rainfall has risen to 6.

While it was announced that search efforts for the 10 people recorded as missing are ongoing, it was reported that water outages continue in 6,200 households in Wajima city, and 1,738 households in Suzu city and Noto town.

Officials stated that 115 villages remain inaccessible due to landslides and flooding, and announced that search, rescue, and relief efforts are ongoing.

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi stated that aid was being sent to the region via Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) helicopters.

Japan's Ishikawa Prefecture has been overwhelmed by heavy rainfall that has been effective since Saturday, with the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) announcing that twice the seasonal average of rainfall has been recorded in the cities of Wajima and Suzu.

While flash floods and landslides occurred in many regions, rivers across the state had overflowed.
