New photos released of Maduro after being taken by the US! Which prison will he be taken to?
It has been reported that the plane carrying President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, who were detained following a US operation against Venezuela, has landed at a military base north of New York. The Washington administration has also shared the first photo of Maduro with the public.
Explosions occurred one after another around 02:00 local time yesterday (January 3) in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, which had been threatened by US President Donald Trump.
US officials reported that the attack was carried out on Trump's orders. In a statement made by Venezuela, it was stated that "we reject US aggression," and a state of emergency was declared in the country.
In a statement made in the following hours, Trump announced that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife had been captured and taken out of the country.
According to information provided by the US-based CBS News, the plane carrying Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores landed at Stewart Air National Guard Base in New York state.
New images of Maduro, who was taken into custody following the operation, have also been released by US authorities.
The report stated that Maduro and Flores are expected to be transferred to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. This prison is known as a facility where many high-profile individuals have been held previously.
It was recalled that names such as Mexican drug lord Joaquin Guzman, American music producer Sean Combs, Luigi Mangione, and Ghislaine Maxwell, who came to the agenda with the Jeffrey Epstein case, have also stayed at this facility in the past.
In a report by CNN citing a federal official, it was stated that it is planned for Maduro and Flores to appear before a judge at the federal court in Manhattan next week.
The Washington administration has also shared new photos of Maduro.
