General Motors to lay off at least 1,000 employees
Detroit-based automaker General Motors (GM) has announced that it will reduce certain teams within its software and services division.
In a statement from GM, it was noted that the company needs to simplify processes for speed and excellence and prioritize investments that will have a major impact.
In this context, the statement announced that certain teams in the software and services organization would be reduced, and it was noted that they are grateful to those who helped build a strong foundation that will ensure GM's leadership.
Although GM's statement did not provide information on how many personnel the layoffs would cover, reports in the US press stated that the company would terminate the employment of more than 1,000 salaried employees in the units in question.
The reports stated that the layoffs also include approximately 600 employees at GM's technology campus near Detroit.
