Germany to provide 6 military helicopters to Ukraine
It has been reported that Germany will provide 6 Sea King Mk41 multi-purpose helicopters to Ukraine.
In a statement from the German Ministry of Defense, it was noted that Defense Minister Boris Pistorius attended the 18th Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting, held online in the "Ramstein" format.
The statement, which expressed that Germany will increase its support for Ukraine this year, conveyed that in addition to providing 6 Sea King Mk 41 multi-purpose helicopters and a spare parts package from the German army's stocks to Ukraine, flight and technical training support will also be provided.
The statement noted that the delivery would be possible after the second quarter of 2024.
According to the statement, German Defense Minister Pistorius stated that the Sea King is a robust helicopter that will assist Ukrainians in many areas, from reconnaissance over the Black Sea to transporting troops, and shared the information that this is the first time Germany will make such a delivery to Ukraine.
Emphasizing that air defense remains the most important priority for the protection of the Ukrainian people and their infrastructure, Pistorius stated, "We also need more speed in defense production."
Defense Minister Pistorius noted that they plan to train 10 thousand Ukrainian soldiers in 2024 as well.
