Germany to provide 8 billion euros in support to Ukraine

According to a report by the public broadcaster ARD, Chancellor Olaf Scholz's party, the Social Democratic Party (SPD), and its coalition partners, the Greens and the liberal Free Democrats (FDP), have reached an agreement on the military aid budget.

In this context, Germany will increase its military aid to Ukraine to 8 billion euros in 2024.

Government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit did not provide details regarding the agreement but stated that the parliament's budget committee would meet this week to discuss the issue of military aid.

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius expressed in Kyiv that the government wants to provide assurance that its military support for Ukraine will continue, amid concerns that Western military support might now be diverted to Israel.

Pistorius stated, "Ukraine must continue its struggle, and at the same time, some of the world's public attention has shifted to Israel. Our support is a strong signal to Ukraine that we will not abandon them."
