Germany's decision on terrorist leader Öcalan
It has been reported that the High Court in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) has upheld the ban on the use of photographs of PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan in meetings and demonstrations.
The NRW Higher Administrative Court rejected the appeal against the ban decision taken by the Düsseldorf Regional Court in November 2017, citing the fact that the PKK is on the European Union (EU) list of terrorist organizations and is banned from operating in Germany.
THE BAN HAS BEEN UPHELD
Thus, the High Court has upheld the Düsseldorf Regional Court's ban on the use of photographs of terrorist leader Öcalan in meetings and demonstrations.
It was stated that this decision by the NRW Higher Administrative Court is not a final decision and that the ruling can be appealed to the Federal Administrative Court.
In addition to the photograph of PKK leader Öcalan, badges and banners belonging to the terrorist organization are also covered by the ban under the decision of the Düsseldorf Regional Court in the state capital.
