Gulf countries on high alert following Iran's attack

The missile and drone attacks launched by Iran over the weekend have caused serious concern in Gulf countries. Casualties and injuries were reported in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the attacks. Other Gulf countries have rapidly activated their defense systems.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health announced that one person lost their life and 32 people were injured as a result of the incidents. While the treatment of the injured continues at Al-Adan Hospital, it was reported that there has been a high volume of admissions to the hospital.

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense also announced that three people of Pakistani, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi nationality lost their lives following the attacks, and at least 58 people were slightly injured. The statement reported that 152 out of a total of 165 ballistic missiles fired at the country were destroyed by air defense systems. Of the remaining missiles, 13 fell into the sea. It was stated that 506 of the 541 unmanned aerial vehicles launched during the attacks were neutralized, while 35 drones reached the country's territory, causing various material damages.

In an assessment made by the Bahrain Defense Force, it was stated that there were no injuries or loss of life during the attacks and that national air defense systems successfully performed against the threats. The Bahraini Ministry of Interior announced that a hotel in the capital, Manama, was partially damaged, but there were no casualties.

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Iran's Ambassador to Riyadh to the ministry following the attacks to express an official reaction. The ministry stated that "Iran's attacks targeting the region are unacceptable."

STATEMENT FROM IRAN REGARDING THE ATTACKS

The Tehran administration claimed that the attacks were not directed against the states in the region. Ali Larijani, Chairman of the Iranian National Security Council, stated, "Our target was not the Gulf countries, but the US bases stationed on the territories of these countries." Larijani also noted that the necessary warnings were given to the US administration before the attacks.

It was reported that civilian infrastructure, particularly in Dubai and Kuwait, was damaged during the attacks and that some airports suspended operations.

While the security level in Gulf countries has been raised to the highest level, air defense elements have switched to high alert. The alert level remains in effect across the region.
