Hamas official reacts to Qatar, Egypt, and the US
A senior Hamas official has reacted to the optimistic statements made by Qatar, Egypt, and the US following the Gaza Strip ceasefire negotiations that concluded yesterday, stating that no progress has been made and that the mediators are "selling illusions."
Statements continue to emerge following the Gaza Strip ceasefire negotiations, which were mediated by the US, Egypt, and Qatar, and concluded yesterday.
The "optimistic" statements made by the mediating countries at the end of the talks, as well as US President Joe Biden's claim that "we are closer than we have ever been to a deal," are not being accepted by Hamas.
A senior Hamas official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the views that progress had been made on a ceasefire agreement at the end of the negotiations as an "illusion" in a statement to the BBC.
Speaking about the negotiations, the official emphasized that the mediators were "selling illusions," stating, "The information we received from the mediators was disappointing. No progress has been made."
