Hamas statement on ceasefire agreement
Hamas stated that the obstacles caused by Israel's failure to comply with the terms of the ceasefire agreement have been removed through the efforts of mediators.
In a written statement issued by Hamas, it was stated, "The obstacles caused by Israel's failure to comply with the terms of the ceasefire agreement were removed this morning through the valuable efforts of the mediators."
Emphasizing that a "national prisoner exchange" involving the participation of Palestinian groups and all segments of the public is targeted, the statement added, "The lists of those to be released in the first phase of the prisoner exchange agreement will be published through the Prisoners' Office according to the phases and procedures."
CEASEFIRE AND PRISONER EXCHANGE AGREEMENT BETWEEN ISRAEL AND HAMAS
Qatar, one of the mediating countries, announced on January 15 that an agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza.
The agreement will come into effect as of Sunday, January 19. In the first 42 days of the three-phase ceasefire agreement, 33 Israeli hostages will be released.
The agreement includes the comprehensive delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip as well as the return of displaced Palestinians to their regions.
The details of the second and third phases will be announced upon the completion of the first phase.
While Israel blamed Hamas and delayed the approval of the agreement, Hamas announced that it remained committed to the ceasefire.
