Hamas to release 50 hostages with foreign passports

Saudi Arabia-based Al Arabiya stated in an announcement on Monday evening that the release of foreign national hostages is expected in the coming hours.

HAMAS SETS CONDITIONS

Senior Hamas leader Khaled Mashal told Sky News that civilian hostages would be released if Israel reduces its airstrikes on Gaza.

Previously, the New York Times stated on Monday that Hamas is considering releasing 50 of the 222 foreign national hostages held in Gaza. The newspaper cited an Israeli military official who said that Qatar is mediating negotiations for the release of hostages separately from those who hold only Israeli citizenship. A source close to the talks said that Hamas warned that an IDF ground operation would reduce the chances of the hostages being released.
