Hamas: We requested Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, the UN, and Russia to be guarantors for a ceasefire

Osama Hamdan, a member of the Political Bureau of Hamas (Islamic Resistance Movement), which governs the Gaza Strip in Palestine, announced that in the proposal they submitted for a ceasefire in Gaza, they requested that Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Russia, and the United Nations (UN) serve as guarantors for any agreement.

AGREEMENT SUBMITTED FOR LIFTING THE BLOCKADE

During a press conference held at Hamas's office in Beirut, Osama Hamdan made statements regarding the prisoner exchange and ceasefire agreement that Hamas submitted to the Israeli government through mediator countries.

Stating that Hamas is working to ensure a comprehensive and complete ceasefire, Hamdan said, "Hamas has submitted its proposals in the agreement for the delivery of aid and relief supplies, an end to barbaric attacks on vulnerable civilians including children, women, and the elderly, the provision of safe shelter for the displaced, reconstruction, the lifting of the blockade on Gaza, and a full prisoner exchange."

Expressing that Hamas responded positively to the agreement despite the reactions of Israel, which denies even the most basic human rights of the Palestinian people, Hamdan reminded that since the day the agreement was announced, Israel has persistently made statements that it will continue its attacks on Gaza.

DEMAND FOR GUARANTORSHIP 

Drawing attention to the statement made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the agreement a short while ago, Hamdan said that he stated he would not withdraw the Israeli army from Gaza and would not release the Palestinians in prisons.

Hamdan emphasized that the war cabinet in Israel has once again confirmed that it is making every effort to block any path leading to stopping the attacks on civilians in Gaza.

In response to journalists' questions about which countries, besides Egypt and Qatar, are guarantors in the agreement, Hamdan replied, "In the proposal we submitted for a ceasefire in Gaza, we requested that Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Russia, and the UN act as guarantors for any agreement."

Hamdan added that a delegation from Hamas will hold talks in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, tomorrow to re-evaluate the developments regarding the agreement.
