Hamas will not participate in ceasefire negotiations in Qatar

Walla news reporter Barak Ravid shared behind-the-scenes information on social media regarding the indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas aimed at reaching a prisoner exchange and a ceasefire in Gaza.

Stating that the negotiations are planned to be held in Doha, Ravid noted that CIA Director Bill Burns will travel to Qatar today.

The Israeli journalist stated that Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, CIA Director Burns, Egyptian Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel, and Mossad Director David Barnea will participate in the negotiations to be held tomorrow.

In his post, which cited unnamed sources, Ravid stated that Hamas would not participate in the indirect negotiations in Doha.

NETANYAHU MET WITH THE DELEGATION

Meanwhile, the Haaretz newspaper wrote that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with the Israeli delegation that will travel to Qatar for the negotiations.

In a joint statement released on August 8, the US, Egypt, and Qatar called on Israel and Hamas to resume negotiations on August 15 to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and a prisoner exchange.

While the Israeli administration announced that it would send a delegation to the negotiations, Hamas had asked the mediators to present a plan for the implementation of the proposal that US President Joe Biden had presented for a ceasefire—which the movement had already accepted—instead of entering a new round of negotiations.
