Harsh statement from Jordan: 'The Israeli government does not want peace'

Jordanian Minister Safadi held a joint press conference with Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis in Athens, the capital of Greece. 
 
Safadi stated, "We will not clean up after Netanyahu. We will not send military forces to Gaza to replace the occupying Israeli forces while we are in the position of those facing the reality of the catastrophe he has created."

Emphasizing a two-state solution, Safadi said, "We are saying that we want a plan not only to stop the war but also to reach a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. This actually means that no approach that treats Gaza separately from the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories can be accepted."

Safadi declared, "Netanyahu and his extremist ministers cannot be allowed to take further actions that will destroy the region. The danger of the regional conflict expanding is increasing day by day, and this situation compels us all to take urgent action; the Arab world is ready for this."

The Jordanian Minister added, "The Israeli government does not want peace, and the war on Gaza cannot be allowed to continue; this war must be stopped."

In the attacks Israel has carried out on the Gaza Strip since October 7, at least 37,718 Palestinians have been killed, including 15,694 children and 10,279 women, and 86,377 people have been injured. While it is reported that there are still thousands of dead under the rubble, civilian infrastructure is also being destroyed by targeting hospitals and educational institutions where the public has taken shelter.
