He called the Prime Minister 'governor'... Trump: 'Canada has to become a US state'
Sharing a message ahead of the hockey match between the US and Canada, Trump stated that Canada 'has to' join the US.
US President Donald Trump reiterated his desire for Canada to become the 51st state ahead of the US-Canada hockey match taking place today. Describing Canada as 'perhaps very soon our valuable and very important 51st state,' Trump wished the US hockey team success.
In a statement on his Truth Social account, Trump once again made a 51st state reference for Canada.
Wishing the American team success ahead of the US-Canada hockey match to be held this evening, Trump used the following expressions:
''I will call our great American hockey team today and wish them victory against Canada, which one day, perhaps very soon, will be our valuable and very important 51st state, with much lower taxes and more security.''
Referring to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau once again as 'Governor Trudeau,' Trump added that he would not be able to attend the match due to another engagement, but that Trudeau was invited to watch the match if he wished.
Continuing his remarks, Trump also noted that ''Canada has to become the 51st state.'' The 'customs tariff war' that had begun between the US and Canada was postponed after Trump changed his decision and temporarily suspended the additional customs tariffs.
