He had apologized to neighboring countries: New statement from Pezeshkian

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated in a post on the social media platform X that Iran only acted against military targets that posed a threat to his country and that he attaches importance to maintaining good neighborly relations with countries in the region.

Pezeshkian expressed, "Iran has always emphasized the maintenance and continuation of friendly relations with regional countries based on good neighborliness and mutual respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity. This does not negate Iran's right to defend itself against military attacks by the US and the Zionist regime."

'WE TARGETED BASES IN THE REGION'

The President noted that Iran's defensive operations were directed solely at sources and facilities that posed a threat of attack against the country, and that the attacks were in no way directed at friendly or allied nations. Pezeshkian also included the statement, "We did not attack our friendly and allied countries, but we targeted American bases, facilities, and military assets in the region." in his remarks.

Pezeshkian pointed out that Iran has no intention of attacking its neighbors, emphasizing that they are in favor of ensuring peace and stability whenever possible.

In a previous speech on state television, Pezeshkian had apologized for his country's missile attacks on neighboring countries, saying, "I must apologize to the neighboring countries that were attacked by Iran. Our leader, our commanders, and our students lost their lives due to the enemy's brutal attack. We have no intention of attacking neighboring countries. They are our brothers, and we are working hand in hand with them to ensure peace and stability."
