Hospital occupancy in Gaza reaches 3 times capacity: Death toll exceeds 17,000
In Gaza, where the death toll from Israeli attacks has risen to 17,487 and the number of injured to 46,480, hospital occupancy has reached 262 percent.
In the Gaza Strip, where Israel has continued its attacks since October 7, the death toll has risen by 310 in the last 24 hours to 17,487. Ashraf al-Qudra, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, provided information regarding Israel's attacks, which have been ongoing for 63 days, during a press conference. Emphasizing that Israel is committing massacres and genocide in schools and residential areas, al-Qudra noted that 310 more Palestinians were killed in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 17,487.
NUMBER OF INJURED RISES TO 46,480
Al-Qudra stated that 558 injured people were brought to hospitals following the latest attacks, bringing the total number of injured to 46,480. Noting that 618 people, including 407 injured and 211 patients, have left Gaza through the Rafah Border Crossing so far, al-Qudra expressed that they are losing dozens of injured people every day because there are no treatment facilities in Gaza.
ISRAEL HAS DETAINED 36 HEALTHCARE WORKERS
Pointing out that Israeli forces are still detaining 36 healthcare workers, most notably the General Director of Al-Shifa Hospital, Muhammad Abu Salmiya, al-Qudra emphasized that hospitals have become unable to provide healthcare services due to the attacks. Al-Qudra reported that the health system in the south is at a catastrophic level and that hospital occupancy has reached 262 percent.
CRITICAL SHORTAGE OF MEDICAL SUPPLIES AND MEDICINE
Ministry of Health Spokesperson al-Qudra also drew attention to the difficulties in the hospitals still operating in Gaza. Al-Qudra stated that hospitals no longer have fixators used for bone fractures, surgical supplies, or burn medications, and that blood units are being transfused without testing, which poses a serious danger to patients and the injured.
