Hostages arriving in Israel to undergo medical checks

Hostages arriving in Israel to undergo medical checks

In a written statement, the Israeli military stated, "The recently released hostages have crossed the border under the escort of Israeli forces and have entered Israeli territory." The statement noted that the released hostages are on their way to an initial reception point in southern Israel, where they will undergo their first medical examinations.

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, had handed over 3 Israeli female hostages to the Red Cross team as part of the first phase of the ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement reached with Israel.


CEASEFIRE AND HOSTAGE EXCHANGE AGREEMENT BETWEEN ISRAEL AND HAMAS

Qatar, one of the mediating countries, announced on January 15 that an agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas for a ceasefire and hostage exchange in Gaza. The agreement went into effect today at 12:15 PM Turkish time. Under the first 42 days of the three-phase ceasefire agreement, 33 Israeli hostages will be released.

The agreement includes the comprehensive delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip as well as the return of displaced Palestinians to their regions. The details of the second and third phases will be announced upon the completion of the first phase.
