Hunger crisis deepens in Gaza

The famine in Gaza, caused by the restrictions imposed by Israel, is deepening the humanitarian crisis. With 7 more people dying of hunger in the last 24 hours, the total death toll has reached 169. Of these deaths, 93 are children.

According to health sources, Atıf, who weighed only 25 kilograms, lost his life at the International Hilu Hospital in Gaza due to severe malnutrition and hunger. Atıf had begun losing weight rapidly two weeks ago and was hospitalized due to sudden health problems.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) stated that child deaths in Gaza have reached an "unprecedented" level due to the war and famine maintained by Israel. According to data from the World Food Programme, one-quarter of Palestinians living in Gaza are facing famine-like conditions, and approximately 100 thousand children and women are suffering from severe malnutrition.

Israel has largely blocked humanitarian aid to Gaza following the attacks it launched on October 7, 2023. By closing all aid and medical crossings as of March 2, it has caused the famine to spread and reach "catastrophic" proportions. This situation is leading to a further deepening of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
