The Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a written statement following reports that some Indian citizens were being forced to fight alongside Russian troops in the Russia-Ukraine War.

In the statement, which confirmed that some of its citizens were working in technical support positions in the Russian army, Indian nationals were urged to "stay away" from conflict zones in the Russia-Ukraine War.

THEY WERE HIRED AS SECURITY SUPPORT

The statement noted that the Indian Embassy in Moscow is in constant contact with Russian authorities to secure the release of the citizens in question from their current locations.

According to reports in the Indian media, among the Indian citizens hired by the Russian army as "security support" are individuals who have been forced to fight against Ukraine and are stranded in various regions along the Russia-Ukraine border.

It is also alleged that some Indian citizens have died in the fighting in the region.
