Inhumane treatment of Sumud Flotilla activists by Israel
Footage released regarding the conditions under which Sumud Flotilla activists were held at the port after being detained by Israeli forces has sparked international outrage. It was reported that the activists, including Turkish citizens, were subjected to reverse handcuffing and psychological pressure.
Following the seizure of the Sumud Flotilla by Israel over the last three days, footage showing the distressing moments experienced by the activists after they were brought to Ashdod Port has been shared with the public. In the videos showing the moment the activists were brought to the port, it was observed that they were bound with plastic handcuffs and held in a tent.
It was stated that the activists were kept in a reverse position, unable to sit or move comfortably, while intense, rapidly flashing strobe lights and the Israeli national anthem played at high volume were continuously repeated in the environment.
In the footage, it is alleged that the group members, including Turkish citizens, were subjected to psychological pressure in addition to physical restrictions. It was noted that the intense light and sound, in particular, caused significant distress to those being held.
