Iran accuses UN of remaining silent on Damascus consulate attack

Iran's Permanent Mission to the UN shared a message on its X social media account.

The message stated, "If the UN Security Council had condemned the Zionist regime's reprehensible attack on our diplomatic premises in Damascus and subsequently brought the perpetrators to justice, Iran would not have been compelled to punish this rogue regime."

Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, also told reporters that they were working to have the UN Security Council issue a statement regarding the attack.

Nebenzia stated that a UN Security Council statement was blocked by their "Anglo-Saxon" counterparts.

Israel carried out an airstrike on the consulate building within the Iranian Embassy compound in Damascus on April 1. Seven people, including two generals from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, were killed in the attack. Six Syrian citizens also lost their lives in the strike.
