Iran-backed groups and the US trade fire in Syria: Is the war in the Middle East intensifying?

Mutual attacks have taken place between Iran-backed groups stationed on the west bank of the Euphrates River in the Deir ez-Zor province of eastern Syria and US forces.

In response to the attack, US aircraft targeted military positions belonging to Iran-backed groups in the Harabesh, Bursaid, and Sinaa neighborhoods of the Deir ez-Zor city center, as well as in the village of Herri in the Al-Bukamal district.

According to information obtained by AA from local sources, Iran-backed groups stationed on the west bank of the Euphrates River carried out a rocket attack on the Conoco Gas Facility, where US forces are stationed.

While powerful explosions were heard in the area where the US base is located, it is not yet known whether there were any casualties in the attack.

The territory of Deir ez-Zor east of the Euphrates River is under the occupation of the US-backed terrorist organization PKK/YPG, while the city center and other rural areas are under the control of the Assad regime and Iran-backed groups.
