Iran closes the Strait: Fire opened on two ships attempting to pass through Hormuz

Tensions have risen once again following Iran's decision to close the Strait of Hormuz. According to a report by the British news agency Reuters, citing 3 maritime security and shipping sources, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps opened fire on at least 2 commercial vessels attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

"IRAN OPENED FIRE WITHOUT WARNING"

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency reported that fire was opened on 1 tanker by 2 fast-attack craft belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. It was stated that the fast-attack craft did not issue a radio warning and that the crew is safe.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps had announced hours earlier that the Strait of Hormuz was closed to ship traffic again due to the ongoing blockade by the US.
