Iran evaluates new US peace proposal: Araghchi makes 'agreement' statement

Diplomatic contacts between Iran and the US have intensified once again. The Tehran administration has begun working on a one-page memorandum of understanding submitted by Washington to end the war and pave the way for more comprehensive nuclear negotiations. The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the 14-point proposal conveyed by the US is under review.

Reports in the US press claim that the parties are closer to an agreement than ever before. In a report by Axios, based on two unnamed US officials and two different sources, it was stated that the Washington administration expects a response from Iran on critical issues within the next 48 hours. The report alleged that while a final consensus has not yet been reached, the process has reached its most advanced point since the beginning of the war.

ARAGHCHI ALSO MADE A STATEMENT

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made assessments in Beijing, where he was present for official contacts, following his meeting with Wang Yi. Araghchi thanked China for its critical stance toward the US and Israel, describing the Beijing administration as a "close friend of Iran." He stated that cooperation between the two countries would deepen even further under current conditions.

"WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT A FAIR AND COMPREHENSIVE AGREEMENT"

In his assessment regarding the attacks on Iran and the diplomatic process being conducted with the US, Araghchi said, "The war launched against us is an act of clear aggression and a blatant violation of international law. We will make every effort to protect our legitimate rights and interests in the negotiations. We will only accept a fair and comprehensive agreement."
