Iran halts negotiations with the US

It is noteworthy that Iran's decision comes following the escalation of tension in Lebanon. In a statement issued by the country's official authorities, it was emphasized that certain important conditions must be met for the negotiations to resume.

Iranian officials cited the intensification of Israel's attacks in Lebanon as the reason for the suspension of the talks. Furthermore, it was stated that achieving a permanent ceasefire in Lebanon is a prerequisite for the peace process that Iran has been conducting with the US to resume.

The following statements were used in the announcement:

"Given the continuation of Israel's crimes in Lebanon, the fact that a ceasefire in Lebanon is one of the prerequisites for peace talks with the US, and that this ceasefire has been violated on all fronts, the Iranian negotiating team will suspend the talks and the exchange of texts through intermediaries."
