Iran launches military exercise in the Strait of Hormuz
According to Iranian state television, the exercise titled "Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz," initiated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, is being conducted in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
It was stated that the exercise focuses on the Revolutionary Guard Corps' ability to provide rapid, decisive, and comprehensive responses to potential threats from the sea.
The U.S. administration, which has issued threats of attack against Iran, has strengthened its military presence in the region in recent weeks and deployed additional naval assets, a move Tehran views as a security threat.
The Strait of Hormuz is known as a strategic transit point through which a significant portion of global oil trade passes. Iran had previously announced that it would close the Strait of Hormuz in the event of a potential war with the U.S.
