Iran: There is a possibility of the war expanding
Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian held a phone call with EU High Representative Josep Borrell. During the call, Amir-Abdollahian stated that if Israel's war crimes are not stopped, there is a possibility that the scope of the war in the region will deepen and expand.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated that if the war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza and the West Bank are not stopped, there is a possibility that the scope of the war in the region will expand.
According to a statement released on the Iranian Foreign Ministry's Telegram group, Amir-Abdollahian and the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, held a phone conversation. During the meeting, they exchanged views on the latest developments in Gaza and the cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
"ISRAEL'S OCCUPATION AND AGGRESSION CONTINUE"
Amir-Abdollahian said, "The Zionist regime's military attacks against the people of Gaza must be stopped immediately, and the possibility of sending humanitarian aid must be provided." Stating that they reject Israel's plans and actions aimed at forcibly removing Palestinians from their lands, Amir-Abdollahian said that the root of the current problem lies in Israel's occupation and aggression.
Amir-Abdollahian assessed that "if the war crimes committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza and the West Bank are not stopped, there is a possibility that the scope of the war in the region will deepen and expand." Expressing that Israel views the United States' support policies as an incentive to continue its military attacks in Gaza and kill civilians, Amir-Abdollahian noted that this is a factor that increases the risk of the war continuing and expanding. Touching upon the latest status of the cooperation between Iran and the IAEA, Amir-Abdollahian noted that this cooperation will continue within a technical and legal framework.
"WE MUST FOCUS ON THE DIPLOMATIC PATH FOR A SOLUTION"
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Borrell also stated that the tension in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank must be stopped immediately. Stating that the EU is trying to ensure that Israel adheres to international law, Borrell said, "We believe that the solution to the Palestinian issue lies in focusing on the diplomatic path, and that the continuation of military attacks will lead to an escalation of the crisis." Borrell expressed his hope that the constructive cooperation between Iran and the IAEA would continue.
