Iran presents solution plan for the Strait of Hormuz

As diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions between Iran and the US accelerate, a new proposal submitted by Tehran to Washington has turned eyes back to the Strait of Hormuz. According to US officials and sources close to the process, the Iranian administration has proposed a new roadmap to end the crisis in the Strait and bring the conflict to a close.

Analyses close to the negotiations suggest that this proposal aims to temporarily set aside internal disagreements within Tehran regarding nuclear steps. Accordingly, the Iranian side's proposal suggests that negotiations regarding the nuclear program be deferred to a second phase.

According to experts, the opening of the Strait of Hormuz could eliminate a significant portion of the economic pressure the US exerts on Tehran. Among the red lines of the Washington administration are the reduction of Iran's enriched uranium stockpile and the complete cessation of uranium enrichment activities.

It has been reported that US President Donald Trump will hold a meeting with his security team on Monday to evaluate the latest developments on the matter. The course of the negotiations with Iran and the next steps to be taken will be discussed in detail at this meeting.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated, "We should not lift the blockade on Iran's oil exports by sea. This pressure will force them to take a step back in a very short time."

In diplomatic circles, it is being discussed that the proposal has reached US authorities, but it is not yet clear how Washington will respond.

Although Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held mediation talks in Pakistan in recent days, it was reported that no significant progress was made in the discussions. It was shared that US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner canceled their planned meeting in Islamabad.

Meanwhile, Araghchi's regional diplomatic traffic continues. It has been learned that the Iranian Minister, who held official talks in Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz earlier this week, will also meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow in the coming hours.

Diplomatic sources close to the region state that the proposal package prepared by Iran with Pakistani mediators prioritizes finding a solution to the Strait crisis first, followed by a ceasefire or peace agreement, with plans to initiate nuclear dialogues only after these steps are taken.
